Exclusivity

The Sophie Home Fair Distribution Policy

At Sophie Home, we’re saying goodbye to restrictive exclusivity agreements and hello to fair, flexible collaboration. The retail landscape is evolving—and so are we. Our common-sense exclusivity policy prioritises fair distribution, brand accessibility and shared success over rigid rules.

Exclusivity restrictions can be employed as a protective measure against local competition. However, we believe a wider distribution of products allows more people to experience and engage with Sophie Home. This approach fosters a stronger connection to our brand and its purpose, driving brand awareness, desire – and sales, for all.

A balanced approach to market access; here’s how this looks in practice:

With a range that is now broad enough to cater to several different looks, styles and requirements, retailers can merchandise ranges in their shops that look quite different to anyone else’s.  Two shops in the same town may stock our cushions, for example, but there is room for two very different curations, and it will be our job to ensure this in practice, and limit crossover.

By ensuring fair market access, we create a system that works for everyone.

We’ve done our research and we’re not alone in this approach. Many successful brands – such as Aesop, Muuto, Nike and Patagonia – have adopted limited exclusivity strategies to grow sustainably while maintaining strong retail partnerships. These companies focus on shared values, considered distribution, and flexible collaboration rather than rigid agreements. We’re always aiming high, and we like to keep good company!

We value all our stockist relationships and you can trust us to ensure that all retailers have a fair trading environment in their local area. We recognise that many of our retailers make a significant commitment to Sophie Home and stock a high proportion of our range.

We are open to discussing tailored exclusivity agreements.

Please contact us if you would like to discuss your specific business goals so we can work with you to achieve them.

We actively encourage open dialogue, and honest feedback and regularly assess how our methods are benefitting all parties.

We believe in building relationships—not contracts—and we’re confident that this flexible model will lead to stronger partnerships, better service, and increased sales for everyone.

And, thank you. We are thrilled that you choose to work with us
